Let's problem solve like astronauts

It's summer holidays here in the UK, and I am taking August off with my daughters for much-needed family time. We've already done Center Parcs and have just got back from camping, so we are already in holiday-mode here!
However, buried in a previous newsletter, I mentioned that my TEDx talk is now live! Thank you to those who already watched it and sent me such lovely feedback.
Over summer, I’ll be using this newsletter to explore the core idea behind it and introduce my Explorer's Framework.
You can watch the TEDx here (it's only 10 mins!)
🎥 Let’s teach our children to problem solve like astronauts (Watch now)
The talk is about what astronaut training taught me, and why I believe we need to encourage those same creative problem-solving skills on our children, our teams, and ourselves.
I introduce my simple 3-step Explorer's Framework that I use to help high-performing professionals deal with the unexpected:
- Build an Explorer’s Environment including the organisational and cultural conditions where innovation happens
- Create an Explorer’s Mindset to give the confidence to act without having all the answers
- Explore using Open-Ended Challenges where we create a practice that strengthens creativity and resilience
These are the skills I believe will shape the future, not just in space, but in every classroom and workplace.
If the talk resonates, I’ve also created a free resource called The Explorer’s Toolkit. It expands on the ideas in the talk and includes practical reflection prompts for work, life, and learning:

Next week, I’ll be discussing Step 1 in more detail: Building an Explorer’s Environment, what that really means, and how you can start creating one wherever you are.
I’d love to know what you think of the talk, so please let me know if you watch it. I read all my emails although I will be slower to respond over summer :-)
