From keynote to classroom... two very different talks
This week has been a nice change of pace. I’ve mostly been in my home office, which is a contrast to last week’s rush of travel and events. It’s given me a bit of breathing space and a chance to prep for my next two speaking gigs.
Both are on the theme of human performance, but the audiences couldn’t be more different.
The first is a keynote for a major infrastructure company. I’ll be talking about human factors, leadership, and teamwork, drawing on stories from Antarctic explorers and astronauts to bring the ideas to life.
The second is a Year 5 class at a local school, where I’ll be talking about astronaut training and what it takes to work in space. Similar topic, very different approach.
That’s the thing about public speaking, it’s not one-size-fits-all. The best communicators adapt their stories, tone, and tools to fit the room (whether it’s a keynote or a bunch of ten-year-olds with a LOT of questions).
If you want to feel more confident doing that, whether you’re prepping for a pitch, leading a workshop, or just want to speak up more in meetings, my public speaking workshop is for you.
It’s happening at the end of June, and the waitlist is now open.
If you’re already on the waitlist, thank you for your patience! I’m just waiting on final confirmation from the venue, and then you’ll be the first to know, and have first chance to book on.
There’ll only be a limited number of spaces, as it’s designed to be small and interactive. This won’t be a room of 100 people.
"It was brilliant to have you at the conference. You really gave us an amazing insight into the challenges people face in extreme environments and how your work in human factors makes such an impact. Many delegates said your talk was the highlight!" Tina Worthy, COO of the Chartered Institute of Human Factors
This kind of feedback means the world to me, and it's exactly the type of confidence I want to help you build when you're speaking too.
If you’re even a little bit curious, pop your name on the list. No pressure, just first dibs when doors open next week.
Have a lovely weekend. Fingers crossed for more sunshine!
Susan
