Not quite ready to hit the ground running? Me neither.

It’s the first week of September and the start of a new school term for many of us in the UK. Uniforms, name labels, sports kits (so much stuff!)… and that familiar sense of juggling all the things.
I could have spent yesterday knuckling down, catching up on work and emails, trying to hit the ground running.
But instead?
I spent the day helping my sister with a presentation while her dog snoozed happily on my lap.
It felt like the perfect reminder that not everything needs to be done at full speed and that how we start the term matters just as much as what we do.
That’s exactly what we’ve been working on inside Launchpad, my leadership and career development programme for mid-career professionals.
Over the summer, our August theme was self-management, covering:
- Making time for rest (even if it’s just a micro-break)
- Managing the invisible workload
- Sharing calendars and responsibilities at home
- Rebuilding work habits with intention
- Taking time for yourself WITHOUT guilt (hello TV time for the kids!)
Last week, we had our catch up call for the Launchpad community, and explored how we want to carry this forward, especially as we are shifting into topics like leadership and teamwork this September.
Because without good self-management, the rest doesn’t work.
✨ Launchpad is opening to new members in October.
If you’ve been feeling stuck, stretched, or like your career and family deserves more than “just getting through,” now might be the time to make a change.
If you’re curious, you can find out more about Launchpad here.
Or just reply to this email with any questions, and I'll get back to you :-)
